How to Make Your Own Sandcastle Cake

Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter, room temperature
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2-4 cups of Cloud Frosting – My Cloud Frosting Tutorial
  • 4 10 inch Vanilla Cake Rounds – My Vanilla Cake Tutorial
  • 3 cups crushed waffle cones
    Beach themed decorations
    1 sandcastle shaped plastic sand bucket
Instructions

Kitchen Note(s): Cookies or graham crackers will work well also

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, & salt
  3. In separate bowl, beat eggs & sugar until light & creamy
  4. Add butter & vanilla
  5. Beat on low speed
  6. Mix in dry ingredients on low speed until just blended
  7. Add sour cream & mix on a low speed until batter is creamy & smooth
  8. Bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until your cake tester comes out clean.
  9. Let cool completely
  10. Crumble cake & place into sandcastle shaped plastic sand bucket that has been rubbed with vegetable shortening
  11. Be sure to firmly press cake into sand bucket
  12. Freeze cake mold for at least 1 hour
  13. Pull pal from freezer, place into warm water for a few moments, & invert onto cake stand
  14. Slowly lift sand bucket from cake
  15. Warm your frosting for 30 seconds in the microwave and slowly pour over cake
  16. Spread evenly with rubber spatula
  17. Firmly press crushed waffle cones or cookies into the frosting of the cake until fully covered
  18. Decorate with your best beach dessert accessories & Enjoy!

Kitchen Note(s): You may add more frosting to make sure the crushed cones stick
